Founded by three female entrepreneurs — Tanyella Evans, Isabel Sheinman, and Taniya Benedict — this new groundbreaking organization is leading the charge to defeat child exploitation through widespread literacy.

And you’re invited to celebrate their official launch at Milk Studios on Thursday, June 28th. The name of the network will be officially unveiled at the event, hence its absence here.

Around the globe, hundreds of millions of children are at risk of being exploited or falling into poverty because they leave school without
learning how to read. This huge challenge exists in part due to a severe shortage of early grade level reading books in local languages, which means children can’t learn to read in a language they understand. As a result, 250 million children (cumulative total as of the latest census in 2015) are leaving school without basic literacy, even if they’ve attended for four years. Without literacy, these children are extremely vulnerable to social and economic exploitation.

Currently operating in Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Haiti, this women-led digital publishing network is a huge step towards positive change. Since February 2018, more than 5,000 users have downloaded the app in Rwanda alone, making it the fastest growing locally-curated app in the country. The demand is there, and the platform is here to meet that and more.
