Dave Valentine

Although Dave began tattooing traditional and flash tattoos, he is now very widely known for his superb black work and personal style.

His first time picking up a tattoo machine was 16, Dave finished his first proper tattoo apprenticeship around 7 years ago. After learning the ropes of the studio and being the helper in the shop Dave started in his apprenticeship on fake skin followed by working on the same 2 clients repeatedly.

When learning Dave had a male and female client to always work on and they both had different interests which gave him the opportunity to practise different areas of the art. The progress Dave has made in his own style has been worked on for many years now but all started with the interest of darker art mixing together elements of neo-traditional work and black work.

The goth-girl artwork which has become part of Dave’s more recognisable portfolio work is influenced by his previous mentor who he worked under for 2 years.

Dave is regularly attending conventions around the UK and has had his work and thoughts in tattoo magazines for interviews and portfolio shots too.
