My interim balance after 5 months on Medium

After I signed up for Medium last August and published my first article on August 30th and three more articles in September, I thought it would be a good idea to take stock after the first month. All too quickly, over time, the memory of the beginning is lost. So I published my first interim report on September 27th.

I was happy to see that I already had numerous views and reads (“numerous” in relation to my start at Medium). I had assumed that in the infinite vastness of this site my articles would remain undiscovered for the time being. I was all the more surprised that my articles had been noticed.

I don’t think I need to mention that this motivated me a lot.

But of course, I didn’t just want to be noticed. That’s why I read a lot of articles about how to succeed on Medium and what other authors’ experiences were on Medium.

The important factors mentioned for success on Medium were the quality of the articles, a large number of articles, publication in Publications and exchange with other authors.

Since blogging is only a hobby for me, the number of my articles will always be limited. So in my second month, I had written only three more articles. But because I had liked the first interim so much, I then published another interim report for my second month on Medium.

This second interim report was something of a breakthrough for me (“breakthrough” at my low level, of course). This article prompted two publications to invite me to publish articles about them. This, of course, gave me a big motivational boost again.

As a result, I published 8 articles on different topics in November. Having access to publications for the first time, I also became more courageous in this regard and I applied to more publications and was successful.

And of course, I wrote again an interim balance for the past month. On November 30th, I published my third interim report.
