New Musings

One of my goals as I look to the next stage of my career is to write more. I find that writing encourages me to develop more thoughtful perspectives, crystalize half-baked theses, and discover new questions that warrant further exploration.

A bit of background on myself. I began my career as a CPA with EY in tax services after graduating from the University of Notre Dame as a “Double Domer” with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting. Through a zig-zagging journey with many learnings along the way, I now serve as an Investment Partner with Atento Capital, the venture-focused investment organization of the George Kaiser Family Foundation. Most of my time is spent as an LP, but I also dabble in direct investments. I have grown tremendously in this role over the last three years and feel truly grateful to have found a career that is equal parts professionally fulfilling and people oriented. I have always been an intellectually curious person and am energized by the conversations amongst LPs around the many nuances of manager selection — relationship management, portfolio construction, strategy and thesis developement, generalist v specialist, diversification, and ultimately, what is the narrative that ties it all together.

In my 20s, I valued “being right” (not an abnormal mentality for an Enneagram 3), but in my 30s, I value the process of learning as much as possible with the goal of making an intelligent and informed decision, knowing that there is likely not a “right” way to do this work.
