The beginning.

I was born the same day that Freddie Mercury died. I don’t know why I’ve held onto that for so long, but its ironically fitting. I learned the fun fact when I was a teenager, just turned thirteen. It…

A token of gratitude and appreciation

An attempt to appreciate the efforts of Sir, Ma’am, Motu, Horse, and G.G, who have been the stepping stones of our development. It is a role played by the apps they have developed and the materials they taught us in school so far.

It has been over ten years since we, the golden ticket winners, have entered the gates of the wonderful chocolate factory. But looking at the unique school so close-up and so regularly, we have taken it for granted, akin to one’s indifference to the beauty of a frequented mountain. Every small app or software that has been built, solely and singularly for the benefit of us, has not been greeted with interest glinting in our eyes or an ear to ear grin. Even though one writing, in one Teachers’ Day cannot repay your dedicated work and right our wrongs, we thank you all for what you have done for us.

We thank you for holding the classes in a seamless and efficient manner even in this unforeseen ongoing crisis. We thank you for the apps which have been developed with rigorous long hours of work and displays the genuine concern of our teachers towards us. We thank Motu and Horse for selflessly putting in so much effort, time and resources for our betterment. The classes of Motu, which have become so very engaging, displays the immense effort from his end, which we can only hope to reciprocate. Apart form the discussions we thank Motu for giving us those brief moments in Zoom at the end of each class when we wave him and each other bye. We thank Motu for sadly saying “So now weekend cometh,” at the end of class every Friday. We could see his hesitation while ending the meeting, beginning a two day long separation. We thank Ma’am for greeting us students almost every class with a smile and,“Babies, till what have we discussed?” These are moments we shall treasure an cherish for many years to come.

We thank the two stout pillars supporting us throughout our school years, sir and ma’am. The real value of sir’s science classes is aptly demonstrated during this lock-down, when we ourselves had to read the sciences and make sense of them. Back in our homes we sorely miss the common meetings with its engaging discussions, witty jokes and jubilant laughter. Ma’am’s Homo Deus discussions, a book we can scantly comprehend by ourselves, fascinates us when the wisdom is unfurled by her. The Catcher in the Rye discussions, especially those about retaining our childhood, will probably remain with us throughout our lives, though we don’t know if we will live up to such high standards.

One of the main tenets of our school had been to remain as children, taught by the teachers through various materials, be it Catcher in The Rye, or Willy Wonka and The Chocolate factory. Countless discussions have been held in the classes so that the unsavory metamorphosis from the innocent children to unscrupulous and hypocritical adults did not materialize. We all gave perfunctory nods during those discussions but nothing really penetrated us. For instance, we did limit not for the sake of learning but for obsession with count, a byproduct, which we mistook for the ultimate goal. The Ink assignments, opportunities to sharpen our writing skill and assess it, was seen as a chore. However, we pledge to repay by giving our best shot at every ink assignment and solving the sums in limit diligently. After all it is the school which taught us to be true to the spirit of anything, be it sums in Limit or the Teachers’ Day.

We don’t know if any changes have come about in our outlook and approach. Standing in the border of the rye field atop the cliff, the prospect of sinking into the abyss below does horrify us. We are not sure if we remain as innocent as children. But if we aren’t we will try our best to attain it, and if we are, we will try to retain it. We hope that we manage to remain the people who can go out for dinner as ma’am mentioned in her writing, probably the best gift we can promise to our teachers.

HAPPY TEACHERS’ DAY!

From Lugu and Criminal, in gratitude.
