THE UPSIDE

Warming up for choir practice in Burgess Park, Georgina Robertson helped bring a stranger closer to God.

A prayer session on a summers morning led to a life-changing experience for young girl who realised it was time to hit a turning point, and used Georgina as the vessel. Georgina had her headphones on and was focused — until she felt a presence. She stopped her music and got to talking to the girl who opened up about her struggle with mental health and wanting to get closer to God.

Georgina and stood and listened to her talk through her experience with abuse in a household, and how God gives strength and hope. As they went back and forth asking and answering questions, they then prayed together.

Ever since this first encounter, the girl has since got a job and her mental health has improved since finding God. She gave her life to Christ to make the positive change with the help of Georgina. They are now good friends, and she has joined the choir alongside Georgina. Not only did she help guide her on a spiritual journey but made a new friend with the strongest possible bond. Georgina put this encounter simply down to joy. “Life is about joy. It is also about sharing it”.
