The Evolution of Rap

Being a young adult music has always been apart of my life. The evolution and meaning of rap has changed over a countless number of times. The plethora of artists that are in the rap game are innumerable, and each of them has their own way of expressing themselves in their songs. The oldest and probably one the first known rappers in history is Tupac Shakur, may God rest his soul. He paved the way for many of the rappers/artists today in a poetic drive and the way he delivered his words. A few rappers that made a difference in the 21st century are as follows: J Cole, Drake, Eminem, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, 50 cent and many many more. In my opinion it isn't the beat or flow of the song that makes it good or bad, it should be the lyrics/words being said, even though it does most of the time. Furthermore, music should be expressed as an art, according to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, “Music is the universal language of mankind.”
