Beauty Standards

Given the day in age, social media packs an enormous influence in our everyday life. Making the public perception of what should be accepted left to those that hold some sort of social platform, whether this be the latest new hits or the new seasonal trends while illustrating pictures of small waist females with clear skin and certain heights. The pressure created by these famous social celebrities only destroys hopes and leads to teasing among the younger generations of females. Ordering numerus products online in hopes of a miracle cream that’ll blemish acne or ordering suits to help slim the waist are all ways companies creating cosmetics profit from the fear the newer generations have of standing out. The standards created by these people are not only a way to make fast cash but absurd and far out wrong.

The idea of beauty is brought by some individual’s preferences. Woman along with all the other sexes should not be treated as if they entered the meat factory while being judged by how their body looks. The extra fat they have here or the more fat they need there is nobody’s business. We as humans, shouldn’t make this absurd ideology that a woman has to look a certain way or be a certain height or color to be categorized as beautiful. These standards created only affect those growing up directly as they see peers or celebrities on TV market some miracle device that makes them socially viewed as pretty.

I’m all for that person that differentiates themselves with the way they dress. To stand out with the help of clothing and tattoos is beauty. Being who you are is beautiful, in a world that tries to fit in, those who choose to truly be who they are and stand out are in my eyes beautiful. To base someone or categorize them for how they look physically, is wrong because it’s not something they can control.

The youth shouldn’t look up to someone who bases their beauty on expensive surgeries. This only leads to the future generations leaving who they are to suit the standards we ignorantly applaud and give attention to. Being an older sibling of a beautiful ten year old I fear the amount of attention she gives the TV celebrities. So let’s not let our youth and future generations fall into this hole we have ignored of false beauty standards and acknowledge we are all different and being different is being beautiful.
